Locum Opportunities

Englehart and District Family Health Team is recruiting locum physicians for on-going coverage.

Englehart and District Family Health Team's physicians are funded through the Northern Rural Group Funding model and, as such, are eligible for locum coverage for 8 weeks per year for each physician. As well, we are funded for locum coverage in the event that we do not have a full complement of physicians.

As part of the Northern Rural Group Funding model, physicians cover 24 hour call in the emergency department on a 1 in 6 rotation (depending on the number of physicians). While on call, the physician is also responsible for seeing patients in our walk-in clinic which operates from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Friday.

Locum physicians, when scheduled to cover a vacation or CME, take over the rotation of the physician they are replacing and a typical week could look like this:

Wednesday

Thursday

A three bedroom house is available for locum accommodations. Depending on availability, families could be accommodated.

Remuneration for the locum is through the RNPGA or HFO $800 / day plus $100 rurality payment for the office or day call days. There is 100% payment of third party billing and a pre-determined percentage of the shadow billing claims submitted to the Ministry of Health.

Emergency room call is from 1700 hours to 0800 hours on weekdays and from 0800 hours to 0800 hours on weekends. The payment is $1336.00 for weekdays and $2137.92 for weekends and statutory holidays.

HFO also pays expenses for travelling and accommodations with a cap.
